That took courage.
It's so funny reading all of you hypocrites damming former coaches. Every fricking one of you dorks did victory dances, high five your baws and strutted around when "we" won those natties. Now you are taking like both of them were the black death.
Neither panned out in the long run. Well that's life. Try to get a grip on reality. Not everything works out like your Mommy said it would. Real men get over them and move on.
I've got high hopes for Coach Kelly but I want to see him win a few games first, maybe a divisional championship (if things are still around after SEC realignment) before I kiss the hem of his garment.
Your post was spot on. I never cared for Orgerson, but I'm sure as hell not going to shite all over a Coach who won an NC at LSU a couple of years ago.

I can understand not wanting to like Miles and O, but I truly hope Kelly wins the next NC here for your sake. Seems like you’re gonna set yourself up for a lot of disappointment if it doesn’t happen.

Just think what a competent HC and staff can do at LSU.
It may still be with NIL, but instead of the instant guarantee we'll just have to see how it all shakes out over time.

quote:Because he had a hard time finding a better program later in life does not discount what he did while at LSU.
The fact that they both have had hard times finding jobs (les miles at Kansas) as National championship winning coaches tells you all you need to know.
Sure the game had passed him by but before the philosophical changes with the game started taking place he was winning at a high level. Don't even try to use Saban as a comparison because the real comparison should be other coaches and there were no other coach other than him that won more than Les.

quote:Certainly with O, but I don't agree with this on Les. He went for a long run of being very competitive before his time was up.
Neither panned out in the long run

Curly Hallman was awesome. You really missed that era.
What people missed was his call-in show on Tuesdays. It was just brtual. Guys flat out calling him "a bum", one guy wanted to meet him and beat him up, some clown called twice one night trying to disguise his voice, etc.

It's popular to hate on Les Miles nowadays b/c it turns out he was a dirty old man hitting on coeds.
But to suggest he was not competent as a HC is silly. He was an exceptional recruiter and averaged ten wins a season until his last year or so here.
He stubbornly clung to an anachronistic offensive philosophy in the latter years, which was his downfall in winning the big games at that stage of his career.
For his career in the SECW he averaged just short of ten wins, which is far more than "competent".
But his termination was proper, b ecause his offenses were progressively falling further behind the very top schools.

Exactly. Just because it ended in a fizzle doesn't mean it was never good. People either don't care to remember or are just idiots.
To imply because he could only get a job at Kansas at that stage of his life to mean that he always sucked is just dumb.

It will be okay dude. Miles and Orgeron were setup for life by LSU.

Long time coming. Amazing how long the masses supported that clown.

Meaning we didn’t find out until after that his mind wasn’t always ON football
