The SEC already has a school for the south Carolina market. The only thing the conference cares about when it comes to expansion are untapped TV markets. Miami makes more sense then Clemson and Florida state and unc/Duke and VT/Virginia make more sense then Clemson and Florida state.

Charlotte and Raleigh dwarf SC market. That's what UNC brings you. Charlotte is also one of the fastest growing cities in the south.

UNC have a great alumni base and are passionate with their sports.

They may have the 4th most passionate fan base in the state when it comes to football and football gamedays would immediately drop to worst in SEC (other than Vandy). Baseball too

NC State would probably be the best addition for the typical SEC fan (strong baseball with passionate fan base and above average football that could be preseason top 10 this season)

However, UNC is undoubtedly a national brand and that makes a huge difference…I believe if SEC did choose to tap into the Carolinas, UNC will be the choice, but most would be surprised at how underwhelming their fan base is right here in NC. SEC fans will HATE their tailgate set-up (or lack thereof)
