Fat fingers. I meant 5. If you wanna play the “if” game Skip has another title if the wind doesn’t suddenly change direction and blow straight in against USC when they had to beat us twice in ‘98. Also Augie stacked up a lot of wins playing in a weak conference at Cal State Fullerton and was a head coach for almost 50 years. Skip was a head coach for 18. Imagine how many titles and games he would’ve won in 40+. It’s also well known that Skip actually coached those Miami teams while Frasier was more of a fundraiser/face of the program. My reply to you had nothing to do with Paul btw.

As far as your logic, it wasn’t “widely known”. You heard that crap on a program about LSU in Hold the Rope. I actually watched all those games when they were happening in Omaha.
The fact remains that Augie coached in a a time out west when the teams were MUCH BETTER than the SEC and had a harder road get to Omaha due to always keeping games regional so teams didn’t have to travel as far.
That is a fact.
He went to the Big 10 and won 2 conference titles at Illinois and the Big 12 and won 6 of those conference titles. He took 2 schools to Omaha and won titles when he had to win a series for one those championships which Skip said was much harder to do.
And he retired the all time winningest coach in college baseball history.
