We quit trying.
We just usually plan to go by ourselves, now. Most of our friends know that we're going every year.
So, if they decide to go, they just tell us where and we join them.
When we say we are in, we are in.
We quit trying as well but do it a little different. We plan where we are going early and announce it to friends. We get our our condo. They are all welcome to come, but no pressure. If they decide to come its up to them to find accommodations. None of this sharing a huge house with 2 or 3 families. If it works out we meet up for lunch. We might do one big diner together. Everyone knows where Apres Ski is. Make what you want to make, skip it if you are not up to it. No pressure, no commitments.
We have had as many as seven different families and once it was just us(usually it is somewhere in between). I have fun either way.

Booked the condo today at the red pine condos just underneath the cabriolet. Figured, depending on weather, we can either walk up the hill to the village, walk down the hill and catch the gondola or use the free shuttle.
We're not much on flooring, bathroom fixtures, decor, etc. but had a few things we definitely wanted like in unit washer and dryer, alot of good reviews, full kitchen with oven and wanted to be in the canyons and couldn't pass up the value we found.
Close enough for the wife to head back if she gets tired. Close enough for me to be on the first lift up and meet them at the lockers when they're ready. Close enough to roll down the hill after a few beers with cash at the umbrella bar and we can use the $ we saved for a meal at Edge Steakhouse.
