Discontinuing the annual LSU Alabama game cheapens the whole SEC. On average that has been the biggest SEC game of the year going back 15 years or so. That would be a shame.

We have too much history with Alabama regardless of the overall record to not play every year.

Bama state and ole Miss must be the three.

It’s truly been the SEC game of the year 2 maybe 3 times 2011, 2019 for sure and maybe 2012 (2012 A&M-Bama has a case) otherwise it’s been an over rated matchup with CBS trying to recapture 2011.

Discontinuing a game that one team has won all but once in the last decade cheapens the SEC?

Can you provide a link?

I suspect the LSU Alabama games in 2011 and 2019 were tops ranked but I also would not be surprised to see the Iron Bowl as higher ranked in many years.

Closest thing I found was an article from 2018 with the 10 top most watched games in the previous 25 years. Not just SEC though there were 5 SEC games.

#3 was the top SEC game and that was 2011 LSU/Alabama.
#4 was 2009 Florida/Alabama
#8 was 2013 Auburn/Alabama
#9 was 2017 Auburn/Alabama
#10 was 2013 aTm/Alabama

2018 & 2019 LSU/Alabama did draw a lot of viewership though. 2020 & 2021, not so much.

I think LSU fans put considerably more value on that game than non LSU fans.
