Damn. Gotta love courts thinking they know better than the people

There is still the state Supreme Court. Either side was going to appeal. That said, I'm shocked by the verdict.

Libs love whiteys money but they don’t love Whitey. This was completely predictable when the advocate wrote a glowing piece on how swell of a guy the liberal judge is.

BATON ROUGE - A judge ruled against allowing the incorporation effort of the proposed City of St. George. A legal fight is expected drag on even after the decision through appeals. The decision was first reported by The Advocate. The judge said the proposed city wouldn't be able to balance its budget. Earlier this month, both sides of the dispute rested their cases. Judge Martin Coady made the ruling. The proposal to split St. George from the rest of the capital city was approved during 2019's fall election with a 54-percent vote. Since then, the effort to enact that separation has been held up in the ongoing legal battle.

I love how the reason they lost was because they couldn’t balance the books. That’s the whole fricking reason why the incorporation is because the parish mayor could not balance the fricking books.

I know there's appeals but sorry - I think this is a major, major blow to the city's cause.
The will of the people means nothing.

Absolute bullshite.
This was the most American thing ever. A group of people decide they want to change things and try to do so within the system and then when that doesn’t work they go around door to door to petition to get a vote to make their own system. Said system passes by a vote of the people and our betters claim they know better.
Disgusting. The fact that it had been delayed until now is insane much less losing the court case

If you are a white conservative or moderate and you don't flee Baton Rouge / New Orleans in the next 3 years you honestly deserve whatever is coming

Well, if they had to prove they would have a balanced budget, and the organizers failed to prove it, then it’s on them.

Ok, reading more into it, this judgment a joke and ripe for appeals.
“The budget presented at trial did not include the cost of paying the sheriff’s office for law enforcement, the ruling states. “
SG already pays for Sheriff services via property taxes. I thought this stupid argument was settled in 2014.
He also stated that the SG incorporation "only minimally satisfies" the statutory requirements.....meaning IT DOES.
What a joke. He must be on MOP's payroll.
