My goodness --
Maneri didn't exactly leave the bench full of players --
Crews, Morgan and Doughty -- top tier. Crews is a true All American.

Go position by position and see what we left behind.

What did our new coach do to help himself? I think alot. Look at the 3rd baseman he brought with him. Can't field really but Berry is a true bad arse hitter.

Look at the arms he recruited after he got the job.
My goodness Hillard is our #1 starter.

Could Johnson have done more? Sure.
But he did bring some solid players and we absolutely have a plan at the plate now.

Pitching coach is top tier according to David D and KP on ESPN. He did a pretty salty job given the arms he is moving around. Would have helped if D. Fontenot would have actually pitched okay this year.

Brody Drost -- ain't produced at all -- and he is a talented kid who was a leftover from Maneri.

I'm not going to bash Paul anymore but Johnson has done a A- job thus far IMO. Not an A+ but at least a B+ or an A-. Go check out the players he has signed for next year. At least wait until June 2023 to really bitch.

The team seems to be more competitive this year.

Actually reminds me of Paul M's 1st year. Paul did a great job that 1st year. He had a couple players but they played well above their skill set.

The fact is PM did not leave the cupboard bare, but obviously we had a major issue with starting pitching, and with relief pitching.
We lacked good middle infielders and catchers that could hit snd catch. Hitting was the strength of what was returning with Crews, Doughty, Morgan and Dugas leading the way. All the other spots were up for grabs.

JJ was able to add major pieces to the bullpen. He did that and coached up Hasty and Ventmeir. Fontenot though degressed.
Starting pitching floundered after a good start, a key injury and after Money did a 180. Hilliard though held the rope.

The hitting lineup flourished with the addition of Berry and newbies. McManus, Jobert and Pearson all were key pieces, but injuries to Dugas and Morgan hurt their production. Late injuries to Berry and Doughty have us severely short with the bat.

Our D is lacking just about everywhere. We are a hit guest tesm and only Crews and Morgan are really good sticks and really good with the glove. Even our pitchers are not good with the glove.

To get back to where we need to be, there’s a lot of holes to fill. Right now we can beat anybody on a given day, but anybody csn beat us. Winning a tournament with these holes will be very hard. Winning two to get to Omaha? It will take some healthy people and some luck.

Ok. So what’s Johnson doing wrong?

The name of the game is to play your best ball when it matters most. The verdict is still TBD.

Losing Berry and Doughty hurts. And no idea what Hasty was doing today. Glad that egg's been laid.

What? Are Doughty and Dugas scrubs now?

Ok, so…..

Lineup =/= pitching. That would be why I listed them separately.

Imagine this team without Berry, Ryzleman and Cooper

Dugas, Doughty, and Gio belong on this list. Dugas led the SEC in RBIs in '21. And Gio was a lifetime like .290 hitter and can run.

I think we did spectacular this year considering we have no bullpen depth and the worst fielding percentage in the league.

The fielding thing really sucks though. That aint pulomnary.

Yall forget we lost Jaden hill last year too.

Pawl did not leave a bag of turds for JJ by any stretch. Best team ever? Nah. But we got players.

Yeah. Dugas, Doughty yes. Gio has not played well even this season. Depth?

PM left us without a top SS or second baseman. A catcher that couldn’t hit. Doughty was OK at third, but he was needed at second and he is not a top second baseman.

To get bats in the line up, we weakened our corner OF too.

PM’s defensive leftovers were not that good.

You’re the one who said the only hitters left over were Crews and Morgan.

I blame Mainieri, big O, and Beth. They all should be fired.
