People often block secure doors open to grab a smoke. It's an extremely common violation of security protocol. You'll see cigarette butts and a large stone or other object near most any back or side door. The cellphone may be a PC excuse for a cigarette break, especially since most schools are smoke-free.

That being said,who would expect a school in the sticks to be a target? Things need to change.
