It’s honestly a stain on his otherwise stellar resume

I think some of these directors as they get older, Scorsese in particular, forget what it was like to get told no by a studio so they stop questioning themselves and then they get super lazy in the editorial process. So they all drop a 3 hour movie that basically was hardly edited as the end result.

There’s obviously a lot of horror stories about studio interference and bad studio pushed moves throughout hollywood history, but I don’t think 1 persons complete creative control going one way is necessarily always the way to go either. You need someone in the room suggesting changes or challenging ideas or you end up with crap like that scene
