re: Will Tiger get a pass for withdrawing because he’s playing bad?

No he isn’t
So, he is in the same physical condition as before his accident? Oh, he still is in major pain and a diminished physical state aka HURT
Players in the NFL pride themselves playing hurt. Tiger is literally playing hurt.

He’s playing like shite because his leg doesn’t work. It’s an actual reason, not an excuse. Can’t fault the guy for giving it a go.
I tend to lean this way as well, but I lean that way with most guys when this happens.
But if this was Brooks, JT, Watson, Reed, DJ, Bryson, etc… lots of people would be calling them soft or saying they don’t have the competitive fire
Tiger has nothing to prove. Even without the recent crash injury he's a guy in his 40s with a lot of miles on his body.

That poster is delusional.
If any of us were in that car wreck and had our leg rebuilt we’d still be in a wheel chair, let alone playing golf at the Masters or Southern Hills.
Dont forget all the other surgeries and back and spinal fusions
Tiger won the US open on a broken leg also.

Tiger, or any other golfer for that matter, could say F this. I suck today. Let’s go get drunk at the club and I would respect that. I can relate

He doesn’t have anything to prove but he knows golf history and the story of legends.
To pull off a hogan and win coming off a car accident intrigues him.

pass and just let him use the leg as an excuse. Now I’m not saying he’s not hurting out there, but if he was in contention he would suck it up and keep playing
Of course, he would keep playing if he was in contention. Any normal person would. Just like any normal person would withdraw in a lot of pain if they weren’t. Players do it all of the time, but nobody cares because it isn’t Tiger.

“leg excuse”
You mean the excuse that he can’t walk? If you watched him battle to +3 for the first 2 days and weren’t inspired by his competitive will I feel sorry for you. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

Tiger has said recently that he wouldn’t use a cart. If it came to that he would just retire
He used one when he played with his son. Why not use one now if he already used one in a different tournament?

Walking 18 holes means you can walk

What was his excuse for playing Sunday at Augusta? He had no shot then.
He’s withdrawing because he can’t go anymore. Not because he’s not in contention.

So you think he’d still drop out today if he was in contention?

A hit and giggle in Orlando isn't a Major Championship.
This can't be a serious take

So if he was in the top 10 he’d still be withdrawing?

Yes.

That wasn’t a real tournament

It was a dumb arse hypothetical question you posed.
Tiger cannot play well enough to be in contention while in the physical pain he is in now. So your hypothetical is impossible.

I asked a friend if the tour would let him ride in a cart because of his leg and all. He said he might need a chauffeur because of his driving abilities.
