It's not that bad, and the OP can certainly get far more for his money outside Akron/Canton than in Columbus.

It's certainly much better than Youngsville.... not that Akron is very good. It's pretty easy to get to from Canton or other rural areas nearby, but I'd stay far away from Cleveland. If he wants a lot of land, moving south of Akron might be a solid choice.

The weather will be better the farther away from the lake he gets. Akron/Canton has their own airport too.


OP: Have you visited all of these areas? What did you/your spouse think? What's important to you?

I wish I could respond to everyone. My wife and I have been reading this thread. I know at the end of the day it comes down to visiting the place and what you value, but to get a feel based on responses here also helps.

This is the only draw to Akron. We eventually want to build on a larger plot, but it will be a while.
