Pretty much all competitive leagues understand that parity is necessary to keep the sport alive. Free agency can help an NFL team turn it around in just one off-season - you are only one year away from the playoffs. But, without regulation you’re going to have Bama cherry-pick GA Tech’s best player every year (Gibbs) so Tech, Vandy, Miss State might all become feeder schools.
