If Simmons quit for not wanting to play in the NIT then Fournette quit for not playing in the bowl game.
Fournette did kinda quit on LSU. The difference between him and ben is that he was LSU thorough and through and also gave 3 years of fricking highlight reel material. Unlike the aforementioned Simmons

This is a symptom of 1 and done in basketball vs. 3 years and pro in football. If players could leave to go pro after 1 year in college for football, they would. The situations arent really any different though which goes back to my, any LSU football player who "opted out" a bowl game to go pro is in the same situation simmons was at end of the season if we want to start throwing around the "quitter" talk here. It's no different. Fournette was a quitter. Damone Clark was a quitter this past season then.
You might perceive it to be different because football players are forced to stay 3 years here, but the end game is still the same. High professional picks have not wanted to play in lesser postseason games for a while now whether that's football or basketball.
I fully get the Simmons is a dumpster fire in the NBA but the people trying to act like he "quit" on LSU is pretty laughable honestly. He played in every single game while he was here and was by far the best player on the team. Yeah, he skipped out on the NIT knowing he was going to be the #1 pick. If that's being called a quitter then let's apply the same terminology where relevant to guys who did similar here like Fournette, Damone Clark, etc...They're quitters too then in the same light.

Eventually no team is gonna want him

I’m thinking about filing a grievance against the nba. Why did Ben Simmons get 20 million and he’s played the same amount of minutes as me.

His shooting issues, which I believe to be 100% mental with him, were exposed long before the A&M game.
SEC teams learned pretty quickly to not play in his face at the top of the key so they played off him, much like they would against any bad shooting PG, and tried to stop his driving ability. I thought JJ tried to play him in the post, and when he did he dominated, but BS wanted to play on the perimeter.

I think it's maybe a bit of a stretch to say he dominated, I watched every minute of every game that year. They actually played him in the post quite a bit. And he did have some success there...not sure I'd characterize it as dominating though.

Simmons has failed to give 100% in the pros or at LSU,
He half assed it at LSU and now he’s completely dropped out of the pros. He is an embarsssment.

Whether or not you can measure the effort level he gave at LSU (irrelevant), he played in every game here and averaged 19/12/5 as a true freshman which is pretty amazing. If that's half-assing it here, I'd take it.

We were nowhere close to being a tournament team so this is entirely made up. We lost 14 games, got our arse kicked in our last game in SECT, our kenpom rating was in the 80s and RPI in the 90s. That's literally nowhere in the neighborhood of being potentially selected for a at-large berth. We could have gone to the NIT, yes, but with his decision yes we skipped out on the THAT postseason. Which nobody really gave a crap about at the time honestly, the whole season was a huge disappointment.
People don’t like this, but it’s absolutely true. I can’t stand Simmons (and think he’s just a perfect example of the coddled athlete who can’t handle even the slightest bit of adversity). But this crap that he quit on LSU simply isn’t true. Unless you consider turning pro to be the number one pick is quitting.

He half-assed at the SECT and said he wouldn’t play in the NIT.
He quit going to class.

I watched every second of that SEC tournament debacle against A&M and the memories I have are of a double or triple teamed Simmons passing to wide open teammates and them missing EVERY shot. The fact that I’m defending a malcontent like Simmons kills me, but you guys need to quit making shite up.

9.0 FT attempts
11.8 rebounds

I would have a hard time calling BS a quitter at LSU. Dude had one of the greatest freshman seasons ever, then bailed on the NIT to be the #1 pick.
One thing is will say is this. He planned on bailing long before we were out of tourney contention. He stopped going to class the moment he did enough to be eligible for the whole season.
Also he was probably the biggest whiner ive ever seen in the PMAC. I don’t think it came across on TV but dude complained to the refs CONSTANTLY. To the point that being an LSU fan at the game you started to be embarrassed. When I think of that season all I remember is how often I thought “ bro shut up and ball”.

He scored 10 points.
He half assed it.

Just curious.
Why is there a constant attack on Ben Simmons?
He was a freshman all SEC. Played on a shitty team.
He signed a big contract and was NBA rookie of the year.
Jamarcus Russell stayed four years. Surrounded by NFL caliber players, especially Wide Receivers.
Signed a big contract and just quit. Never even competed in the NFL.
He is still a fan favorite.

Simmons didn’t give a damn about being here. Played with apathy. Stuffed the stat sheet but didn’t lead. Hid against Oklahoma (and Marquette) when we needed him in crunch time. Had a massive flaw in his game ( he can’t shoot a lick, and he knows it) that became evident.
Was a future no. 1 draft pick with other pro players on the roster and led us to nothing.
And now in the NBA, we’re seeing his flaws (including attitude) magnified for the entire world to see.

This wasn’t highly publicized but I thought there was a suspension of some kind too.
It got out that Ben stopped going to class too. It was a mess.

LSU had a chance at making the tournament,
Holy Revisionist History, Batman!
We had no chance of making the NCAA tournament. Now he did quit on the team and then the team quit overall.
I wish they would just go to baseball rules for the NBA. You can get drafted out of high school, but if you go to college, you have to go for three years. Makes all products better and gets rid of the one and done farce.
