For me, it was Joe Besser and Joe Derita being the least favorite of the stooges. Both of them came after the death of Shemp in 1955.
Joe Besser also had a stint on the old "Abbott & Costello Show" playing an oversized brat-like character called Stinky. He was annoying as hell in that part.

Derita was a good friend of Moe's and initially approached by Moe after Shemp died to replace him. Derita did not want to do it because he thought he could never match Curly or Shemp. So the studio got them Besser who didn't fit with the physical comedy of Moe and Larry. Derita did not mind it and saved the boys when they did theater tours in the 50s and early 60s. While no Curly or Shemp, he was a good sport.
Larry and Moe were best friends. The two were more in sync then you would think . Those boys were the best. I get emotional just talking about them. Professionals who worked hard at their craft and overall were good guys.
