re: Louisiana legislature introduces HB729 which bans publishing booking photos (mugshots)

These laws are good based in promoting good government. For initial arrests, each jail is supposed to keep a record with all inmates booked into the jail. The openly stated purpose that they are public records is so that the State cannot hold secret prisoners. Anything that erodes that policy should be looked at with suspicion.
