Moved into our house two years ago this month. My neighbors owns the houses to my right and left. About 2 weeks before we closed, one of the water oaks split during a storm and hit the house the left, sparked an electrical fire, and it burned.
They’ve bitched about about the other water oak in my backyard since we’ve moved in but won’t pay to have it removed. It’s healthy per an arborist I had come out during inspection.
Tree guys are in my backyard as I type this. Worth every penny to not hear from them about this tree every other week.

So sorry to hear that. All of that great shade lost. Luckily the only down side was a tree landing on a house and causing a fire.
