1 year to play?

yes

He was class of 2018 and did not redshirt, so he'd be using his covid year at LSU this season.

Guy was a preseason All American going into 2021 but dealt with injuries all year. If he’s right, he starts over anyone we have. Would be a great get! Kelly and staff working miracles in the portal.

We better load up on CBs in this 2023 class because we will be losing a few quality players after the 22 season.

My one connection left in the program said he feels very good about Banks coming here this summer.

Ohio State did have some young guys who took some snaps away from Banks, but he was injured during the season. The same injury that required him to withdraw from the NFL draft process. Per my OSU acquaintance, the staff moved on from him. Assumed 2021 was his last season, and there were better players on the roster.

Yea he was injured a ton last season. Good player but not sure he ever became the guy OSU expected him to be.

Summary from video is linked and below:

Still, he fully intended to go to the draft after the 2021 season. He then received medical feedback regarding the severity of the injury (Ward said it was comparable to Bo Jackson's hip).

As a result, he felt that going back to OSU would be for the best. However, by that time, the semester already started but he was not enrolled and because the coaches were consistently told that he was not going to return, they had already moved on.

In early February, the coaches sat down with the Banks family and laid out the pathway through NCAA waivers/appeals to get back with the team and school.
But because those are not guaranteed and neither was him getting healthy enough to play this season, Banks ended up not pursuing that and is now in the transfer portal.

Who are the other schools that are in contention for landing Banks? I haven’t really heard much about other schools, his recruiting has seemed kind of quiet. Either way it really looks like LSU is going to be getting a commitment from him soon. Will be a huge get at a position of need.

It’s probably Banks or Daugherty. Daugherty is supposed to commit on April 13 and recruiting sites seem to be pretty confident he is going to commit to LSU.

Both? I'm almost certain we're getting Banks. This week could be an excellent week.

Yes, I'm pretty confident we'll pick up two (2) pieces of good news before end of week, as follows (est.):

Wednesday (4/13/22): M. Daugherty, S (2023)

Friday (4/15/22): S. Banks, CB (2022)

No inside scoop here, so I'm not 100% certain. Just my interpretation of reading btwn. the tea leaves....
