I don't really care if it's down there. That would allow new burbs to be even farther from BR, and controlled more locally, which is a good thing.

A straight line from the basin exit to the bridge, then to i12 east of denham somewhere to avoid the BR shite show is what's really needed.

I like the idea of extending 3127 from Donaldsonville all the way up to the Audubon Bridge. Make it a freeway grade road, then connect each bridge it passes to it with an interchange. Maybe not this route exactly, but something pretty similar.

So if you are stuck on I-10 headed east into Baton Rouge, you can just exit on 3127 somewhere west of LA415, and take this new bridge. Or if you are going to New Orleans, go all the way down to the Sunshine bridge or even Gramarcy or Luling.

To route back to I-12, that same person can take the same exit to 3127 northbound to US 190, then cross on the old bridge, and take a much improved Airline highway to I-12.
They'd need to make Airline more efficient with wider lanes, fewer lights, and overpasses over the rail road tracks for this to work.

If someone heading into Baton Rouge from the west were going beyond Baton Rouge towards I-55 and hit traffic on I-10, they can take the same exit northbound from I-10, go up to the Audubon bridge, and take LA10 to I-55 around Kentwood. LA10 is another road that we should beef up if we can. Probably LA16 too.

This is a good idea because it doesn't cross too many wetlands . Only thing is it would probably cost about $10 Billion dollars. I mean we would be building another interstate.

I say this every time this come out. Supposedly the problem is traffic from I-10 trying to get to I-12 to go to Atlanta. If you complete 3127 from Boutte to Gross Tete, the majority of the right-of way is bought and paid for. Your would only need to run from Gross Tete to Donaldsonville and from Gross Tete to the Audubon bridge. There is a roadway on that end, but it would need to be straightened and expanded, but 3127 has the land to be 4 laned all the way. That would give acces to every bridge that touches I-10 all the way to Boutte, you could eliminate I-12 traffic by completing I-55 to LaPlace that gives any trucks, etc. Access to all the routes around Baton Rouge. Make it a toll road, most trucks would gladly use it to get out of Baton Rouge. So you build that first and then you make the new bridge access it. That should have been the priority years ago. The only things it would effect are canefields and swamps, no real towns. Also, you would have to divert access to 3127 to service roads or ramps, but this seems like a "No Brainer". It just isn't in the Parishes with all the political clout. It touches all the bridges from St Francisville to Boutte so there is no reason traffic that wasn't required to go in to Baton Rouge, wouldn't bypass it. It would also reduce the traffic going through Baton Rouge significantly, leaving no need for a bypass from Livingston. Any traffic going West or North could bypass BR altogether.
