Lack of depth. The roster was decimated.
OLine and secondary groups paper thin.

I think our starting 22 will be very solid but the lack of depth is what will hurt us. Also having a question mark at kicker (not saying the new guy is bad, but probably not the caliber of our last two) could make or break a couple games as well.

Kelly has never taken that long to turn a program around though. He doesn't take a lot of time to field teams that are at least competitive.
He took over a similar mess from Charlie Weis, and after a 1-3 start to his first season, ND won 7 of their last 9.

Realistic expectations for next year should be 7 wins. I’ll be pleasantly surprised with anything more. Maybe it’s a 4 year rebuild to play for a title, but it won’t be that long to get us back to winning 10 games a season. Hell the team last year could’ve won 8-9 games if it weren’t for coaching and that was the worst team in 25 years.

Was it db from ULL? Saw on a few YouTube videos about spring practice there were some pretty strong opinions thats he wasn't the answer at db in the comments. Was just wondering if that was why.
