It’s hard to sort through all the propaganda, but it sure seems the Russian military may have bitten off more than they can chew.
BTW, getting shot like that in any extremity with a high powered rifle is essentially a death sentence unless one gets immediate emergency care.

True. Considering that US supplied Ukraine with more weapons and military funding/training than any country in the past, I'd say Russians seem to have forgotten lessons from Afghanistan when US also armed and trained Mujahadeen in CIA Operation Cyclone. This is another proxy war where Russians did not fully appreciate the scale or armament of their opposition. I think they can still persevere but over long term IF they don't run out of high precision missiles and start utilizing drone warfare instead of heavy boots on the ground approach.
