The graphic CBS showed last night listed Demps as running a 10.01 and Holliday 10.02. Demps ran a 10.17 and has a win aided 10.03 (which adjusted was still slower than his 10.17. Not sure why CBS has such a screwed up graphic.

He looks to play faster than holliday coming from the rb position. Maybe that is just the scheme. The only difference florida feature those guys as running backs and not gimmicks. Heck, Holliday ran for 2000 yards as a senior. Not saying he should be starting but i think his speed could have aided the running game more last night.

Demps' Yardage > Holliday's Yards
Florida's Score > LSU's Score
importance of a monkey taking a dump > importance this thread

Jeff Demps ran his 10.01 at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon... You know, the same trials where he beat Holliday head to head.

It was for the 100 meter, too. That's hardly a relevant measure in CF, its not too often you have to run the length of the field.

The link says that the 10.01 performance by Demps broke the all-time high school record as well as the American Junior (under age 20) record of 10.06 by Walter Dix (who went to the 2008 Olympics).

It also says that Demps now holds four of the top 10 legal performances by a high school athlete –

All-time high school 100 meters performances:
10.01 Jeff Demps, South Lake (Groveland, Fla.), 2008
10.08 J-Mee Samuels, Mt. Tabor (Winston-Salem, N.C.), 2005
10.12 Demps, 2008
10.13 Derrick Florence, Ball (Galveston, Texas), 1986
10.15 Henry Neal, Greenville (Texas), 1990
10.16 Houston McTear, Baker (Florida), 1976
10.17 Demps, 2008
10.17 Derrick Florence, 1986
10.18 Roy Martin, Roosevelt (Dallas), 1985
10.19 Demps, 2008

That Demps kid is going to be scary at Florida for the next three or four years.

Well, if I'm not mistaken, it's the shortest race that is officially timed... It's also the event that brought Holliday so much fame as a College speedster.

He actually lost to Trindon in the finals. Demps was 8th and Trindon was 7th.........Just sayin.

Demps time came in the qualifers.

The best part as a Florida fan is that Demps looks like a football player first. He was dragging people around and making ridiculous lateral moves against LSU. I've always been a huge fan of Holliday, and I'm happy as hell we've got a guy who can run with him.

No, you have the 60-yard-dash in indoor track and field, and Holliday was a star for LSU in that event as well as the 100. Not saying Holliday is faster than Demps in the 60-yard, I'm just saying its an event that Holliday was great at for LSU's indoor track and field team.

I didn't know that. Thanks. Regardless, we're arguing over hundredths of a second. I think we can all agree that those dudes are fast.

Are you insinuating Trindon isn't a football player?

Look Demps yardage came on options in which our defense had to respect the Heisman trophy winner in a pissed off mood. I saw nothing of Demps ability to pound the ball. He didn't run anybody over. We allowed him to get into open space and we paid for it with his speed and ability in the open field.

He is a damn fine weapon but he isn't the guy I'd want getting the ball on a 4th and 1 with an SEC championship on the line.

Hey Florida fan, you know Demps might not be the faster guy on you team:

Chris Rainey beat Demps in a 40-yard dash, according to both Urban and Tebow - LINK

According to another article,

"The first race went to Demps. Then the second one stalled because Rainey said “he slipped.” Then the third time Rainey won." - LINK

Jeff Demps was a Rivals 4 star (#7 all-purpose back, #1 home-run threat) and a Scout 4 star (#36 RB in nation) for the 2008 class.

Chris Rainey was a Rivals 4 star (#4 all-purpose back) and a Scout 5 star (#5 RB in nation) for the 2007 class.

That is a scary combo of young RBs.

Well, actually we were both mistaken. They never faced head-to-head, and neither actually made it to the finals to race. Demps had the better time in the first 2 quals, and Holliday had the better time in the Semifinal.

LINK

As to your most recent rant: Where did I say that Holliday wasn't a football player? I love the dude. I wish we had a few just like him. I was merely referring to the fact that a lot of track guys can be knocked down by a stiff breeze (Florida's John Capel comes to mind). Cool your jets.

Hey Florida fan, you know Demps isn't the only speedster freshman you have on your team:

Yeah, it's pretty exciting to be a Gator Fan right now... I wouldn't be too upset to be a Tiger either. You guys are stacked, too. I always look forward to our games, and I'll admit that your fans party the hardest in the SEC.

Maybe so, but that's racing. Holiday cares more about football than racing and so doesn't pretty much everyone here. The 40 yard run is the most relevant gauge of speed in football. I have no idea what Holiday or Demps times are on these runs.

Florida didn't win because their speedster can run a hundred meter dash in 0.1 seconds less than ours.

Demps has not posted a faster 60m than Holliday which is much more applicable to football.
