Ah yes, where rivers normally flow to.

Only "gross" net energy.

The infrastructure and costs would likely make the energy cost prohibitive.

Not only that, but without researching it, the maintenance demands alone (battery replacement, ordinary/routine maintenance on electric vehicles, water loading/unloading demands) would almost certainly eat any of that "gross" net energy, but likely drive it immediately into energy deficit, even if supplemented by solar.

Newton was smart AF.

How big of a dam would need to be placed on said "river" to produce the same amount of energy?

I know it sounds silly but I think some people in here are missing some critical details. They're not suggesting there's some infinite energy to be harvested, this is basically an alternative to damming a river.

Descending with a load generates more power than ascending without a load. There are electric mining trucks in operation that never need to stop to recharge because they drive up a mountain empty and come back down with a full load.

Yes, and to overcome this racist, white privileged propensity of gravity to not allow rivers to flow uphill, they will build electric pumps at the base of the mountain to pump the water up to fill the trucks. These electric motors, of course, will be powered by the charged batteries of the trucks when they reach the bottom of the mountain.

You really are dumb enough to believe this shite too.

how's the truck/tank gonna get back to the top of the mountain?

frickING RETARDED

Let me make this clear - I think this is a silly idea.

But you’re missing the entire point of how hydroelectric power works. The truck isn’t carrying water when it goes back up the hill. The net energy production comes from the potential energy of the water, not the truck.

It would be like if someone told you “flowing water is going to turn a water wheel 180 degrees” and you said “how is it going to turn the other 180 degrees??”

Okay, so you have 4000 EV tank trucks to do this hoakey project.
At the beginning of this project they will have their batteries will have to be charged up .
Where will the electricity come from for this initial charge ?

That would be where they flow from. The whole idea is to harvest the gravitational potential there. Do none of you guys get it?

It never needs to charge, and it actually produces a surplus of 77 mWh per year. Unless you think they're lying?

Buy a new truck each time.

Here's a good video explaining why these ideas don't work. Take notes.

Well, that's also essentially a closed loop system

Why don't you give me the cliff's on that 25 minute video before I waste my time watching?

How so? The gravitational potential energy is not part of the loop. No difference hauling water or rocks downhill.

Can we not use the Earth's rotation as gigantic turbine generator, spins like a top from the poles, a magnetized turbine generator...

Talking to the OT engineers..
