This. It’s how the Russians do things. They have never cared about civilian/infrastructure casualties, or military ones for that matter, throughout their entire existence.
That isn’t a statement of support. It is acknowledging real-world facts. It is war, and the Russians have their own style of going about that. They are going to do what they do, and that is what they have always done.

Well if you have armed all the citizens and encouraged fighting aren’t they technically not civilian targets any longer?
This is total war at this point.
I applaud Ukraine for going all in but once you do you can’t play a pity party if the other side hits all targets.
Now is hitting a apartment building smart if you plan to occupy? No. You create resistance and make building your conquest back harder

I'm not buying that Putin is having their lawyers consult with artillery batteries to insure viable military targets designated before orders to fire are given.

As a former infantry officer I would betcha it is “A”……you take fire from a “civilian” building you return fire. If it isn’t suppressed call in the big guns.

It’s just a ridiculous conversation to have at all. Because they haven’t actually armed every single civilian, but yes all is fair in war. My only point is that it’s a weird flex considering that there has never been a similar conflict in history where the same exact thing didn’t happen. I don’t get why people are pretending not to know that the media will always focus on shite like that.

No one is going to know anything for sure for awhile... and maybe not the truth until after the war. But the Russians are claiming that Ukrainian forces have been sending troops with anti-aircraft weapons, anti-armor weapons, and snipers on the upper floors and roofs of apartment complexes and public buildings. If that's true, they instantly become targets regardless of anyone else inside. "Human Shields" is the term Russians are using for civilians in those buildings.

The US purposely targeted civilians with dumb bombs in Iraq in Afghanistan?
Our troops went door to door in Fallujah just to avoid civilian casualties and also caused hundreds of American casualties.
The technology is obviously out there to keep civilian casualties to a minimum but Putin choose to go scorched earth.
