“We’re looking, ultimately, to make a hopeful, uplifting story,” Kennedy said. “It’s tricky when you’re starting with a character in the state that Obi-Wan would be in coming off of ‘Revenge of the Sith.’ That’s a pretty bleak period of time. You can’t just wave the magic wand with any writer and arrive at a story that necessarily reflects what you want to feel.”

“Army of the Dead” writer Joby Harold was brought in to overhaul the scripts, working closely with series director Deborah Chow. The two did a full revamp of the show, with Chow saying that “we inherited some of it, but we did really make some significant changes and add a few different elements.”

That bitch is a cancerous blob of hate. It’s clear she absolutely loathes SW.

The Last Jedi shouldn’t have been dark with emo Jake Skywalker. THAT should have been uplifting. They made Luke a baby back bitch.

Obi-Wan should be dark though. Dude lost his master, his Jedi way of life, the love of his life, his brother in Anakin, has to live as a hermit in an assbackwards desert planet and can’t help anyone for fear of giving up the ruse.

And that doesn’t even get into that trailer with the hilariously dumb, retconned Grand Inquisitors race. The Pau'an‘s look like shite.

You don’t have to start a thread every time you smell a bad fart.

Obi-Wan actually looks good from the trailer we got though. I will give it a chance. If the writing sucks then I'll stop watching it's that simple. At least we don't see any political garbage in it from the trailer.

Anyone: “Tell me you’re a Star Wars fan without telling me you’re a Star Wars fan.”

I'm not going to give up on the series or anything at this point, but I don't see how it can end up being too hopeful other than just Obi-Wan doing the things necessary to keep anyone from figuring out who Luke is. The only real uplifting aspect to this part of the Star Wars story should be that Luke is kept safe and anonymous. The "uplifting" part should be the last scene of the series where Obi-Wan, having fought off those who could potentially discover Luke, looks onto a growing Luke knowing there is a sliver of hope left as long as Luke is safe (we basically saw this scene after he killed Maul in Rebels). Otherwise, it is a very bad time in Obi-Wan's life and in the history of the galaxy. During this time, Darth Vader should be getting close to being the most evil we will ever see him.

That being said, I disagree With the OP.

Idk I think obi-Wan finding meaning in a post-Jedi order world is uplifting. Maybe show us why Leia would think he’s her only hope.

Prequel Trilogy.

Obi-Wan.

Looks dumb arse hell. They’ve drastically changed what the Pau’an look like. Grand Inquisitor looks like a soft boiled egg. And more like Darth Malak.

is this the "SW thread, so I have to piss all over it to be edgy on a message board" post?

Unlike you, he's a Jedi and has mastered control over his emotions.

Calm down. This isn't the outrage you're looking for.

Deborah Chow is running the Dave Filoni playbook with the Inquisitors so I'm fairly sure they've been in contact with each other. Chow and Filoni in particular worked very closely with each other on the first season of "The Mandalorian". Chow was the one that talked Filoni into hiring Ming-Na Wen for example.

Yes, Kennedy interfering isn't great. It is potentially disastrous even for a director with Chow's talents. But... Chow was the big gun the first season of "The Mandalorian" for a reason. If anyone can pull off a good series despite Kennedy's "assistance" I would wager its Chow.
