ATLANTA — As gas prices continue to spike across the country and here in Georgia, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Monday that he is working “to quickly move legislation that will temporarily suspend the state’s motor fuel tax.” Kemp said because of the state’s conservative budgeting over the last couple of years, he is “confident we will be able to provide relief to hardworking Georgians - both in the form of a tax refund and lower gas taxes.”

Democrats are, very successfully, proving trickle down economics actually works.

How about we all permanently suspend gas taxes???

Part of me doesn’t like this … all the commuter liberals and soccer moms need to feel the pain that their votes cause.

Thanks Joe

Yep.

29 cents a gallon isn't going to matter much when it's over 5 while wrecking their highway fund.

So, how do you want to fund road construction/maintenance then?

That’s a start, Kemp. But, you have a long way to go to make up for 2020. Next, decertify the electorate and fraud proof your elections.

Desantis talked about doing this weeks ago . I think it’s a bad idea . Why lower the income coming into a red state to help relieve the burden made by democrats?

Personally I believe that all taxes should be across the board equal and roads should therefore come out of the general budget, but to more directly respond to your question…

The same way we plan on funding them when everyone is driving electric cars.

But I don’t hear much discussion about that.

Throwing roads in the general budget makes it easier to have its funding shifted to non-transportation line items.
