A kid in my neighborhood got a ticket driving a golf cart. Now his parents said his auto insurance is outrageous. No thanks.

Was coming to say lithium batteries.

Look at eco batteries or extreme team lithium. Swap in a Navitas 600amp controller and AC motor and bump the battery juice to 72v. My cart will do 45-50 but I set it up for range more so than top speed. Can get 80 miles or so on a charge.

Be careful if your cart is lifted because lithium batteries are lighter and your cart may become more top heavy

Yep I know, it’s just a little 4” lift. I went with a 150ah 72v so it’s 200lbs, still lighter than led acid tho. I stick to around 30mph (gets there pretty damn fast). 40+ is interesting on a golf cart. Have to make sure everything is aligned well.

Are there any particular golf cart brands to consider ?

I have been looking at Star, Evolution, and Aertic lithium’s.

The price difference between Star and the others is big but they’re really put together nicely. Seats are adjustable, steering wheel is nice, no exposed wires, nice dash and locking storage. It’s nice but it’s over 35% more expensive.

Anyone have advice?
