This mostly supports your point but also a bit of “in fairness” to LSU.
They signed a 5* (massive bust) and a 4* who is in the NFL followed by another 4* in Jazz Ferguson. All three were in state guys. And a 4th ranked higher than SMJ.
So, to your point, plenty of misevaluation considering how good SMJ turned out to be. But at least with the top two WR, LSU theoretically had a couple of potential great ones followed by another in-state guy in Jazz. I don’t even remember who the 4th guy is, Brandon Martin.
Hindsight, would have been great to sign SMJ. But also having 3 highly ranked in-state guys onboard…only so many spots, right.
