He seems to always have 2 FG's with 50% from three. That's pretty much his only shot he makes, and seems to have success there. Why not give him 5-7 3pt attempts? if he can hit 50% of them, that's nearly 15 pts we could use. Great for momentum as well

I agree with this. Him getting at least 3 to 4 threes a game couldn't hurt at all

He's good at knocking down wide open 3s on a kick out. Not so much at creating his own shot, or working off of screens to get himself open.

He is what he is, and if he can keep consistently knocking down the shots he gets then it opens up a lot for this offense. You'd see that percentage go way down if he tried to start doing more than he is capable of.

Im surprised we dont have more ally oops with him coming off the corner..... if you watch some of his block attempts around rim, he can absolutely hop

I’d love to see his shot chart. It’s probably hilarious

He could be more aggressive all together offensively

His actions are solid going to the goal but he always gives the ball up. And his stroke has improved a bunch

Who you want throwing that to him? Gaines would probably put that pass in the rafters somehow.

I love Gaines btw. Not trying to take shots at him. Some of his turnovers are just funny.

Fudge is the one I want to see soaring catch alleys. He needs to let his athleticism shine more. He just pisses on himself when a defender is near by.

I agree. He shoots a high percentage from the corner. They should run set plays for him to get that shot.

He also had a sweet spin move vs State which I didn't see coming.

He's got some potential offensively

I’m not sure he’d be as effective as a higher volume shooter. I actually wish the rest of the team had his approach from the 3 point line.

Yep. The dunk is the easy part.

Wilkinson (and Fudge) have the athleticism to have Marlon Taylor-like dunks. They just don't have a Tremont Waters to serve them up

gaines too

i'd like to see B Murray shoot more of them too (off the top of my head, don't know the stats but he seems to make a fair share of them)

does no one in this thread remember what his shot selection was like earlier this year? (1) being aggressive going to the basket so that he can kick it out and (2) hitting open corner 3s are rightfully the only things he should be doing on offense. and he’s done a great job playing within himself since Pinson got back

It's not hard to hit a couple wide open 3's when you stand in one place most of a possession and defenses forget about you while you get a catch and shoot situation.

The problem is Mwani creates nothing for himself basically so you're never going to see him average 5-7 3's a game. Guys who typically do that take a few contested shots and also create some for themselves at times. contested shots are made a way way lower clip for obvious reasons. So if Mwani is taking 6 3's a game, it's like 3-4 of them at least were contested which he probably hits 1 in 5 of those vs. 2 in 5 to 3 in 6 of uncontested shots.

I dont think we see any sort of major shift or adjustment in Mwani's offensive game before the end of this season. I think the #1 thing he needs to work on this offseason is offensive skill set.

Dude is a tough defender and has no issue hacking the crap out of someone going to make an easy 2 so they have to earn it and dont give them and 1 situations like most others would...but he is just so completely limited on the offensive end. If Fudge progresses or someone like Ree comes in and makes a lot more noise on offensive end he could see his minutes dwindle a lot next season at that wing spot if he doesnt show something else on the offensive end. He would pretty quickly become a defensive sub basically getting more like 10-15 minutes rather than 20-25. he gets now.

Also, it almsot never scales to higher volume guys who have great 3 point percentages on very low volume. You cant assume a guy hitting 45% of his 3's taking 1-2 a game is going to come close to hitting 45% of their 3's taking 6-7 a game.

I thought the same thing, I also noticed if he misses his first 2 3s he won’t shoot much anymore. It makes NO difference if Days goes 0-6 early, who cares who’s missing them. But I was down on the team for a minute but Pinson does make huge difference although we’re playing somewhat weaker ball clubs they’re definitely better.

I seem to remember him getting a lot of shots blocked around the goal. At 6'5" he is just not big enough to be effective there. Wide open three pointers from the corner and back door cuts seem to be the extent of his scoring opportunities. If he really works on his game over the summer and adds a pull up jumper off of the dribble he could definitely be a 10 plus a game scorer.

very true.

so move the damn basketball more on offense and quit having Pinson or Gaines dribble up the court and at the top of the key for 20 seconds every possession.
move the ball, penetrate and finish or penetrate and kick out for open 3. shoot the ball if your open, if not, penetrate and finish or penetrate and kick out.
really not that complicated.
