His players speak highly of him and don’t understand why he isn’t a HC yet.

At least the front office not rushing to make a hire. I'm cheering for the Saints regardless who they hire and wishing them the best. I don't expect to go to the Superbowl after 1st year whoever the coach may be. Hopefully we find out who the new coach is by end of week.

This is the correct answer.
You are already elite on one side of the ball. You have to do everything you can to keep that continuity when making such a drastic change after 15 years.

If the Saints were in complete rebuild mode right now I'd say "sure, why not" with Bieniemy. But they aren't. The defense...which Allen coordinates, is able to compete NOW at a high level. There are many here saying the Saints need an "offensive mind". Well, they just had one that is considered one of the best in the league and he couldn't do much with the offensive side of the ball. So why does anyone think a LESS experienced guy is going to do so with the same personnel? Unless and until the Saints can upgrade the offensive personnel no "offensive" coach will be able to do much. They can upgrade that personnel with Allen as HC just as much as they could with anyone else.

The good news is that if the defense remains elite there is room to compete in the NFC. Tampa just lost their HOF QB. Green Bay may lose theirs. San Francisco doesn't have a QB they trust. Dallas seems to just be Dallas. Keep doing what you do well and try to improve on the other side of the ball.

The only real plus that Bienemy brings over other candidates is that he has the playbook that prioritized Tyreek Hill and got him in space 10x a game.

We have someone very very similar who has not been used all that well by our past coaching staff.

I would rather make Allen the HC and keep Pete as the OC.

When Pete turned down an opportunity to interview for the job, it could be telling that he knows DA will get the job. I’m good with that.

Isn't 8 hours about the normal length for an interview? I'm not an NFL coach or a coach at all, but all of my medical school interviews, residency interviews, and other interviews were about that long.

George Seifert took over the HC position of the 49ers when Bill Walsh retired. Siefert was the DC and the 49ers continued to dominate until they got old. I think it would be a mistake to not hire Dennis Allen as the HC, Carmichael at OC, and promote from within a DC. The Saints are finally in good groove and should stick with continuity until it fails.

No different than when we hired Payton.

Agree fully. Whoever it is, if they succeed, we all succeed.

Nothing against Allen but Saints need to hire someone whose expertise is on the offensive side of the ball

Agree again. Unfortunately for Allen, his max potential is exactly where he is, plus we'd have to hire another DC to take his place, and I'm not sure how Carmichael handles the OC job without Payton. I would love Allen to be our head coach but I'm not sure if that's what is best for the team. That being said, I'm not sure if Bieniemy is either. I guess we wait and see.

I feel like anytime a new coach is hired, you can find tons of players or former players that come out and support him. Doesn’t mean shite.

Mrs. Benson will demonstrate her wokeness and hire Bienemy….the Saints are headed to the crapper anyway so who cares who the coach will be. A loser team will fit right in New Haiti.

Flores just made it very hard for him to get any head coaching job period.
