So how would that have helped Gramatica make a field goal and prevented Minnesota from making one?

It kills the clock so that the vikings have less time to drive for a winning score. Plus, it probably gains a few yards which at that distance greatly increases fg percentage.

The game was TIED and the Saints were in FG range with a little over 2 minutes left and Payton finds a way to lose a game again. I'm just surprised that the fricker didn't try a double reverse again.

All this is besides the fact that it took Bush taking this team on this shoulders to overcome payton's ineptness.
