This has everything to do with women peaking earlier, not the sport. An 18 year old female has definitely won a golf major, and was ranked #1 in the world before turning 18.

Well Becker won Wimbledon twice by the time he was 18.

Lydia Ko won a major at 18. She was no. In the world 2 months before turning 18.
