What y'all think?.. Ride bike to within 200 yards and walk to stand.. or walk a mile to stand leaving bike at camp? Noise of bike worse than human scent?
Thanks and stay warm

Park and walk, spray clothes and boots with sent killler…

You may be riding a bike within 30/40 feet of where deer are bedded down

I wonder about this to, I drive my truck because it's more quiet than the bike but still makes noise on the lease road. I turn off my main lights and use the fog lights only.

Cool or cold and no chance of rain I am inclined to walk further.

Hot and rain walk less.

Ride within a couple hundred yards and park where wind blowing scent away from where you expect the deer to be.

I have consistently watched deer pass within 15-20 yards of where I parked the Tacoma about 500 yards from my stand this year. They always seem to pass closer to the truck than my blind.

My observation from many years of hunting in Texas is that driving up in the ranch truck and they often didn’t pick their heads up, drive down the ranch road in any other vehicle they weren’t used to and they would haul arse. The best solution would seem to be our electric cart, but we can’t keep it running long enough to really prove it.

Maybe my place is different but I don’t have an issue riding close. The deer don’t spook from my SxS like they do if I’m walking.

Pulled up in a shooting lane last week and spread a sack of corn. Started to drive off and remembered I brought a camera. Got back off the buggy and walked 25 yards in the woods towards a tree that always has a scrape and jumped a buck that was bedded.

I’ve never walked to a stand or across a field and had the deer just watch me pass like they do when I’m on my SxS. My location is unique though so may not be the same everywhere

Either park the bike under the stand, or really far away. Have killed deer both ways. Decision is made based on weather, hangover severity, walk suckieness

I just drive my 4 wheeler straight to the stand and leave it there. Hasn’t prevented me from shooting deer over the years

I normally walk about two hundred yards. All the while smoking a cigarette, drink in hand and not spray cover scent. I do this going to a box stand, lock on or sitting on the ground. I usually kill 3-4 deer a year. I mean, I'm just saying.

It really doesn’t matter. I have parked 1/2 mile and walked in only to walk out and jump deer bedded 10yards from my bike. I have walked in and busted deer at my stand site, unless your a ninja you are not sneaking into a stand area undetected.
All that being said I don’t like having my bike closer than 300yd or so from where I’m hunting. In my mind I can just picture one time that a state record buck comes walking in and sees my bike and starts snorting and stomping. If my bike is 300yds away at least I won’t have to know that’s what kept me from killing him!!
And if you have the right place the best thing is to have some one slow roll to drop you off I have seen deer that will not move if a truck or bike never stops but if it stops they get antsy and bust out.

Doesn't matter. Deer will figure out when you come and go.

I like to have someone drop me at stand and leave. But have driven and parked at stand and walked in from a long way out. Last year seen a coyote a bobcat and a bear come down the same lane all 30 minutes apart. An hour after the bear 3 does came out. Get to the stand anyway possible and stay there.

I've killed two deer this year with my bike parked next to the stand.

I park my golf cart right by the stand. See deer all the time. Shoot a trophy once a year.

My stands are near a gravel pit for a timber company, I drive about 50 yards past the gravel pits to get out of the dump truck's way and walk about 300-400 yards from there to my stand. They are used to hearing trucks so mine is probably no different to them.
