You can hunt in your backyard as long as your city or HOA doesn't prohibit it.
The biggest issue you will likely come up against is where you can legally discharge a firearm. Most cities prohibit it within the city limits and almost all parishes will have additional requirements for minimum distance from roads and inhabited dwellings.
