This is what bothers me about the PTSD claims. I’m sure some are real but some just seem to want attention. I have a relative who drove fuel trucks in Iraq and claims to have severe PTSD. He goes on FB all the time and rants about any and everything then apologizes later because of the PTSD.
On the other hand, three of my uncles all served in the European theater in WWI and were in constant battles. One had the lower quadrant if his face blown off and had numerous surgeries to reconstruct his face. He was the kindest, most gentle man you could find. The father of the relative with PTSD drove Higgins boats on D Day and was wounded and his arm was partially paralyzed the rest of his life. He was a jolly, generous man and I don’t remember him ever overwhelmed by memories of WWII. They all seemed glad to just be alive and back home where they started a new life with wives, kids and jobs.

So much goes into what causes PTS in one person versus another. Kind of like the non-alcoholic son vs alcoholic son of the alcoholic father.
Some folks are more predisposed due to preexisting issues, genetics, different exposures, etc…
There is a good reason many jurisdictions have instituted veterans courts to specifically deal with such issues.
