Because Freeman helped recruit most of those players and their entire staff stayed. Familiarity was still there. Orgeron had the 7th ranked class the year he took over for Les. This head coaching change was very different than the previous LSU one or the Notre dame one.

Why does everybody keep attributing their class solely to Freeman? Yes, Freeman sealed the deal with some good recruits however, he mainly worked with their defensive guys. Pretty much the majority of the offensive recruits were targeted and communicated with various other staff.

We could just as easily finish inside the top 15 which would be a solid class. Winning entices recruits and the last two years we're a .500 program. No, we're not going to hire a new coach, fire some staff, and yet to name an OC or DC and automatically have a top 5 class. CBK is smart and it appears he's trying to lay the foundation for walling up LA. His primary focus was on committed guys AND players in LA. That will pay dividends down the road. Taking some of these 3 stars from LA schools builds a working relationship with HS coaches. The guy is smart and has built a few programs. He's not all of a sudden going to forget everything he knows.
