Are Ryan Baker, Patrick Peterson, DeAngelo Peterson, etc. "Defending National Champions"? How can they be defending national champions when they weren't on the team last year? What about players that didn't even play but were on the team? Is Jarret Lee a defending national champion? What about the players that were on the team but are now in the pros? Is Matt Flynn a defending national champion? The point I am trying to make (badly) is that the players on this team are very different than the players that were on the team last year, and therefore they cannot defend something that they were really NOT a part of. The Florida basketball team in 2006-2007 were the "defending national champions" b/c the whole starting five were back for the next season. They defended their title. Unless Matt Flynn, Glenn Dorsey, and Early Doucet come back for an additional year, I just don't get the whole "defending national champs". Just my opinion. Bomb away!
