Once again, you don't have to use a bondsman. You bond out and you get whatever money you put up back when you appear. The original comment acted as if the city/state keeps 10% when that's not accurate.

The point he’s making is that most people do not have $300K CASH lying around, not your 401K, stock portfolio ect ect, $300k Cash. The courts mandate that the bond has to be paid in full. If Suarez does not have the full $300K in cash to pay directly to the court he would inevitably have to go through a bondsman and pay their fee of (10-12%) of the $300K in order to get out. That 10-12% of the $300K he will not get back. If he skips court a bounty hunter would be sent to track him down to take him into custody and back to jail with another charge of bond jumping to be possibly applied to the existing charges.
