Exactly why playoff needs to be expanded to 12 teams. No one cares about bowls. Not even the players. Entertain the people, expand the playoff. Of course, there will be teams that don’t deserve to be in, but it keeps players and fans excited.

You are exactly right. The top NFL prospects are opting out but they probably wouldn't in a 12 team playoff....

So playoffs are ruining bowl games (and by extension, college football in general) so the solution is to expand the playoffs?

Playoffs are the problem. So let's expand playoffs.

BRILLIANT!!!

I actually say get rid of the playoffs. Last week (rivalry week) was great because that’s what college football should be about. Now it’s completely semi-pro and the haves either get in the playoffs or it’s bust.

Bring back the BCS. Make games fun again. Make it about debates about who would win out of ‘03 LSU or ‘03 USC. Make Bowls matter again.

Downvote away. But you have to admit, college football was more fun before the playoffs.

Imagine if a 3 loss Utah sitting at #10 winning the playoffs this year. The beauty of CFB is that every week matters and you can throw it out with expanded playoffs.

Yeah so we could put 8 bad teams in the playoffs

That’s not even close to being true. Sure, too prospects going into the next draft don’t care, but the rest if the team does care; especially the younger players that get a few extra weeks of work

There are some middle of the road programs that have 1st round locks looking forward to playing too

This would just make the bowl games even less meaningful

Negative. Did you see the difference between no 1 and no 3 last night?

Do we really want to see no 1 vs no 12? What if a stud player tears an ACL in *that* game?

If we absolutely must have a damned playoff, then 4 teams is plenty.

But why 12? Why not 6 or 8? Or better yet... just make the playoff between the P4 winners, and then the conf championship games axt like playoff games.
