Looking for a rechargeable flashlight for my parents. Size doesn't matter, it will just sit by the front door, but I'd like it to light up the sky so they can check for cayotes around their house. Around $100. TIA.

Streamlight Stinger

I keep one in my truck on the charger. Great flashlight and really bright.

Rechargeable?

Are they planning on plugging it in and leaving it on the charger? Or are they going to remember to recharge it periodically?

For a front door light, sits a lot - used seldom, I would go with battery powered.

I'd take a hard look at the Streamlight ProTac HL-X. it's compact and extremely bright and the light and beam quality are very good. When I compare it to cheaper lights I own that advertise the same lumen output, the Streamlight leaves them all in the dark.

I've owned it for a couple years and I absolutely love it.

I have both the stream light stinger led and a nitecore MH12. Both are great, but for this use I’d go with the stinger. The beam is more concentrated than the nitecore and the stinger I leave on the charger in my truck has held up well for years.

For hunting I like the nitecore due to its compact size and brightness. The charger is a mini usb charger which may be a little tougher to use than the stream light charger for an elderly person.

Anything from Fenix has my vote. I have two now and they put the power of sun in a very very small device. I recommend whatever the current iteration of the PD35 is now. Doesn't have a focus beam, though. So it's not for a really long distance.

But fenix makes a ton that will have a focus beam.

Don't go too small, like a Jetbeam Raptor, because they'll lose it. Ask me how I know.

For $100 you have too many options to list. Don't go cheap, because while the LEDs "last forever" the circuit boards required for them to run don't. I'd get something no smaller than hand size, 6" or so. Streamlight, Fenix, Jetbeam, O-light; take your pick.
