So how is LA High School BB this season compared to the last couple of seasons?
I heard some guest on one of the local radio shows state that "The level of talent for the state of Louisiana in the 2010-2011 (this class, I don't know what year it goes under) in football is a good comparison for the talent level in the state of Louisiana for the 2011-2012 (this year's juniors) basketball class." They were discussing Trent Johnson and how he needs to clean up with that recruiting class.

Hell, I thought we'd be okay at Tech this year, but it's so atrocious that attendance is down to the band, about 75 old people, 3 squirrels, and the dance team right now because we're playing so poorly. ZERO conference wins right now. We don't recruit much in-state either and our best player is from Canada, with players from Brazil and Macedonia on the roster as well. Basketball's a pretty big focus by our administration now, so this is an epic disappointment. Louisiana in general should do better in this sport...

Centenary and UNO are going to division III i believe and are beginning to transition into that role. Not saying they were powerhouses but Centenary at least has an excuse!

I didn't hear any names, and I'm not that knowledgeable on high school hoops, I was just relaying what I heard on the local radio sometime in the last few days.
All I know about Scotlandville is that they made it to the 5A State Finals last year, and this year that are having another great year. Denham Springs has some athletic underclassmen on the floor. I don't know if any of those guys are SEC level, but to supplement my original point in this thread, I'm certain some of these guys within 60 miles of Baton Rouge could help Southern. It might even get a few fannies in the stands.

Where do all those Peabody players end up?

Courtney Wallace needs to get his academics in order BRUH
Ktulu, the Cajuns took Tech's best recruiter for basketball. He was the reason Tech was somewhat respectable.

It might not be a basketball state right now, but things are cyclical.
LA puts out a good amount of bball talent per capita.

according to the Sagarin ratings.
The highest ranked team is Tulane at 159.
# 159 - Tulane
# 187 - LSU
# 190 - Nicholls St
Wooo!!! #3 in the state!
And, the Colonels took down the Tigers and Wave this year for the first time ever.

I actually thought Nicholls would be ahead of LSU. That 2-0 SEC start must've helped LSU edge out NSU

Centenary dropped from Div. 1 to Div. III this year while retaining a mostly Div 1 and I-AA schedule. Many of the players left.
When I went to CC we were ranked 19th but could not go to the NCAA due to violations. Our starting line up:
C... Robert Parish, 7-1 ,Shreveport
PF.. Jerry Waugh, 6-6, Okla. City
SF.. Leon Johnson, 6-5 , Newark, NJ
SG.. Nate Bland, 6-3, Albany, NY
PG.. Barry McLeod, 6-0, Bridgeport, Conn.
Back in those days USL (now ULL) was also nationally ranked.
C .. Roy Ebron, 6-10
PF.. James Lofton, 6-9
SF.. Fred Saunders, 6-7
SG.. Jerry Bisbano, 6-5
PG.. Dwight Lamar, 6-1
I watched USL torment Northwestern. They intentionally let NSU hang with them in the first half. The score was tied. The NSU fans were going nuts. Then USL came out in the second half and laughed at the crowd. Roy smiled and yelled, "We're gonna start playing now."
USL put on a show and won by 40. The basket hanging dunks became so boring for them that they even pulled a globetrotter trick.
Lamar stayed under his own goal knowing USL could handle NSU 5 on 4. Ebron blocked a shot and threw it to Dwight who was standing 5 feet from his goal. He caught the ball and waited for an NSU player to challenge him. Eventually, a Demon guard came running up and jumping to block the shot. Dwight just handed him the ball. The NSU guy grabbed it and fell out of bounds into the cheerleaders. USL ball.
The NSU fans started filing out.

That and the fact that Nicholls has played 4 NAIA teams: Loyola (NO), SUNO, Dillard(NO) & Jarvis Christian College (TX).

Dwight was great but I really got a kick of Roy Ebron.
I was in biology class at USL one day and the prof asked for someone to come up and get their finger pricked for blood tests.
Prof said "Mr. Ebron, you are a fine strong man would you come up and give a drop of blood?"
Roy was sitting next to me and just shook his head saying "No, No Way."
A little girl about two seats down waved her hand "I'll do it."
This 5-1, 90 pound girl walked past Ebron to give a blood test after he refused. The class smirked and laughed but Ebron didn't care. He wasn't giving anybody any of his blood.

I don't blame Roy, that's my blood not for no stupid arse teachers.
