Do you think they will go with just 13 teams or will they add a 14th and who do you think that 14th team should be?

I think we should renege on A&M and forget about all this nonsense. The SEC seems to be doing fine with the current organization.

ETA: Conference expansion board

I just hope if they do it's not Missouri. That seems to be the most popular feasible option right now.

Mizzou's off the table. The Big 12 is going to hold together. I'm thinking we go for an ACC team next.

But again, I hope we revoked the deal with A&M and forget about all of the expansion nonsense.

Agree.

We're pretty much weakening our conference just so it can have more teams. Stupid.

I'm another in favor of leaving the SEC the way it was. Having said that ti ain't gonna happen. Texas A&M IS in so we can only go from there now.
It's being reported here (in the West) that it's all but a done deal that Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas will be in (the future) Pac-16.

Not according to this: Pac-12 happy to sit out this round of realignment

Latest reports indicate that the Pac-12 is done expanding for now. It looks like negotiators are feverishly working to keep the Big-12 Together. Apparently OU and OSU are on-board with staying as long as some conditions are met.

The team I would love is UNC and they were mentioned as a team the SEC was looking to add. They fit for a # of reasons:

1. School with tons of traditional and will immediately strengthen SEC as a basketball conference

2. Well populated area so would be a good TV market

3. Great school reputation and tradition

4. NC is considered a south eastern state so the name SEC would still apply.

5. They would be placed in the Eastern division so SEC would not have to realign

I think it would be a long shot but I think they should be SEC's ideal 14th member

Did Birmingham forget the "S" stands for south. Should only be considering the current 9 states (LA, AR, MS, AL, TN, KY, GA, FL and SC) plus NC and VA. Plenty of schools out there to grab. Screw TAMU n their male cheerleaders and the university of misery.

It'd take Clemson, Florida State, or Georgia Tech over a basketball school anyday. I don't know that any of them are interested, though.

They'll hold off for now, at least to see what the bigxii does. aTm is a great pickup based on getting into texas, tv sets, academics, bball/fball success. i'd rather have them over mz, wvu, uofl or any other rumored candidates.

This has been the aTm selling point, but we already recruit well in East Texas. I'm sure we'll pick up a few television households, but I don't really see anything good coming out of this for LSU. If anything, I think it could better open up Texas to some of the other teams in the SEC West (not good).
