so many people say they do so, but how many people actually do so? first off, every game is on TV anyway. most college students don't have their own cars, nor the cash for tickets, gas, and food and there aren't many hotels around most games (because home team fans use them too)

now in the dome for the saints i've seen opposing team fans, but not enough where i could notice a different colored block of seats, (not even for the Falcons) and New Orleans is a destination as far as fans go. I was under the impression the SEC stadiums were 98% for the home team

bottom line is if you're a travelling fan, you're already penciled into revenue numbers. the SEC wants new fans, whether that's WV, East Texas, half of Florida, etc.

if you're an LSU fan not already living in South Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky, anywhere past the SEC West, it's a mighty long trip, is it not? unless you went on a plane and that costs $$$$$ too

What world are you living in? The 50's? Most high school kids have cars.

I've been to 84 straight games home or away. Been to Arizona, Oklahoma, and Colorado for regular season games the past 3 seasons. But if/when we add TAMU and WV I simply won't be able to do it anymore. It's been a goal of mine for a long time to break the consecutive games streak, but there's just no way I can do it if I have to go to Texas or Missouri or practically Pennsylvania every year or 2.

You are under the wrong impression about 98% home team fans in stadiums...the SEC mandates a much higher percentage going to visitors i.e. for LSU,Bama TN. etc. it's set at 6-7000 tickets...so it's more like 7-9% !
Where, do you get your information from ????

Saints fans would riot if we had to give up 5k every game...

Nearby teams like UGA and UT bring 10-12,000 fans to Williams-Brice. LSU and Bama brings 5-7,000. Bama is reasonably close. Arky sends maybe 1,000.

Distance matters. A team might bring a larger contingent for a one-time big game, but a regular long distance opponent inevitably means small road contingents.

It's expensive, no doubt.
