Whoooooooop , Gig 'em , ain't that cool?

I like dogs, and although that's weird. I could deal with it.

Trying to tell me gay looking guys in tight white uniforms throwing up hand signals like they work at the San Fransisco airport are needed so the crowd knows what to yell when the rest of the country's colleges don't.... Well, that's just blowing smoke up my arse. And I don't like it.

Poor LSU has no real rival

Ole Miss has State
UF has UGA
Bama has Auburn
Nobody gives a shite about Arkansas

We'll drop Texas and hate y'all instead if that helps

I grew up in Louisiana, didn't go to fish camp and wasn't in the Corps. I love my school as much as anybody but still don't know all the traditions.

Humpin' it is just bending over, hands on knees, when you yell so that its louder.

Whippin' out I think is a corps thing. The freshman have to introduce themselves to any upperclassman corps member they don't know. Extending their hand to shake while introducing themselves is whipping out.

Red arse is anybody that's overly Aggie

Whoop seems to have different etymologies. It used to be Whooooah and not whoop. It's a Rebel Yell from the Civil War or a Commanche battle yell from the early 1900s when we used Indians on our football team to win.

Gig'em comes from playing TCU horned frogs. What are we gonna do to'em? Gig'em! Even though when I'm drunk down a gravel road I don't use a gig. I grab them by hand

Came across this on Yahoo:

quote:

Those unfamiliar with the Aggies may be surprised -- and even shocked -- when they see yell leaders and members of the corps doubled over and squeezing their ... uh ... groin area on field goals and extra points. That's just the Aggie way of showing that they, too, feel the pressure the players do.

Between this and the fact you need yell leaders to coordinate cheers, someone has brainwashed y'all.

Don't NEED them--they just generate more crowd noise than a cheerleading group does.

Why do you believe this, seriously, what factual evidence proves this other than that's what all you aggies tell each other.

Have you been to a SEC stadium? Bama hit 115 decibels this weekend and we use female Cheerleaders.

LSU is considered one of the loudest places to play in the US and they use female cheerleaders.

UT, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, all fall into this category, and even Auburn. MSU cheats, but they are still very loud.

Sorry, I'm not buying it. Just admit you have them cause it was a all-male military school and you haven't changed that aspect with the times, and I'll believe you.

Your reading comprehension sucks. Yes, y'all hit 115 decibels--no way in hell were your female cheerleaders any way responsible for that.

Never said we needed yell leaders to be loud--but I defy you to say a cheerleading squad coordinates crowd noise more effectively.

Are you talking about yelling and screaming, cause I highly doubt yell leaders are responsible for 85000 people doing that.

What the frick does this even mean? Noise like in yelling and screaming?

Or Cheers where the fans unite to produce a loud understandable chant?

Cause Bama and everyone else does just fine with this without yell leaders as well, "Ever heard we just beat the hell outta you?" shite's pretty fricking clear.

shite we can even start our own chants without anyone, like SEC,SEC,SEC. If people know the cheer, all you need is a band, jumbo tron, cheerleader, or some group of fans to start it, and it will take off.

Quit blowing smoke up my arse saying a guy is better at starting and coordinating crowd noise than a girl, or at organizing cheers, it fricking bullshite. We have guy cheerleaders too, we just don't make them look gay.

Same experience when I went to grad school there. Uncover is not a tradition...just a few count freshman that want to be badasses.

That is not what they yell uncover for.

If there were not yell leaders, A&M fans would be silent.

Yell leaders do prompt the AAAAAAAAA yell when opposing defenses are on the field, but that is easily done without them, much like the Wrecking Crew chant, and soon to be SEC chant, are initiated without them. However, we have a number of lengthy yells that are prompted, because it would be very difficult to get the entire crowd to yell them in unison otherwise. Examples:

"Beat the Hell Outta t.u.!"
"A-G-G-I-E-S. A-G-G-I-E-S, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-A! Fight'em Aggies!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAA-A! Gig'em Aggies!
"A---, R---, M---, Y---. T---, A---, M---, C---. AAAAAAAAAAAAAA-A! Old Army Fight!"
"Farmers Fight! Farmers Fight! Fight! Fight! Farmers, Farmers, Fight!"
"Squads left, squads right, farmers farmers we're alright. Load. Ready. Aim. Fire. Boom! RELOAD! A&M give us room!"

There are others, each with a specific hand signal, or passback, given by the Yell Leaders to initiate the yell. Cheerleaders don't do this. They get the crowd to chant lame things like "Defense" and "Texas Fight". Yells are longer, they aren't chants and are only yelled once, and they are much more difficult to coordinate than cheers. I hope that clarifies.
