One thing about Mizzou football, they have some youth at key positions...

QB and RB are both sophomores. Lots of returning starters next year on defense.

They will be a tough team to play...

Mizzou will be as competitive as they've been in the Big X and there is no reason to believe they won't.

Like any team coming into the SEC, there's going to be a learning curve and a change in recruiting SEC style players.
If you have a good coach and the money to keep up with top rate facilities, you can be competitive in the SEC.

IMO Their pipeline to Texas will dry up significantly (assuming they play in the east) and Pinkle has never had a scary defense. (disclaimer unless an Aggie QB gifts them with 4 pick and a fumble ala 2010)

That being Said until maybe 4-5 years ago they were a terrible terrible team.

Um, we had no picks again aTm last year. But I digress, speed and depth are things we've been working on improving. It's not "quite" there yet but you can definitely see it trending upward. Let's also not forget we have a little bit of LSU in us with Josh Henson on staff.

We actually have a QB in the wings that will likely dethrown Franklin, named Corbin Berkstresser (sp is wrong I'm sure).

Sadly, we didn't commit a single turnover and still took a hot steaming dump on our own home field.

Mauk and Corbin will be battling it out as Franklins successor. Franklin will start his 3 remaining years.

Hell Franklin is good for a Soph. I look for him to really light things up his Jr and Sr years. One thing Mizzou can do is put out some good QB's in college.

I am sure this is being figured out. I would imagine that Mizzou is demanding that they play Texas A&M every year. Plus, Mizzou should start working out deals with the non-Big 12 Texas schools like SMU, Houston and Rice.

Missouri may be able to keep top talent from their own state out of the Big Ten with this move.

Absolutely, though I doubt that UTexas allows Rice to schedule them...UHouston and SMU definitely make sense though.

People keep blaming Franklin and have been wanting him replaced. I dont get it. Outside of his FIRST College Game he hasnt been bad, especially for a Soph. Corbin will have his day after him though.

interesting...how fertile is the state of Missouri in terms of high school talent? and what schools raid it the most?

that is true. Rice is Texas' bitch. I wonder if Texas will balk at Rice playing Texas A&M in anything.

Why would Rice care what Texas thinks but not UH or SMU?

Fertile enough that arkansas looks to missouri as a recruiting ground - the eastern part of the state (notably STL) has had sort of split attention between Mizzou/Big 12 and Big Ten schools ranging from Illinois to Penn State

There is IMO a bit of a ratings recruiting bias (less local attention on high school recruiting leading to more kids getting fewer stars) against missouri compared to the more football-mad states in the south... but there is also just less football talent there than in say Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama

Rice has been told by Texas that it cannot play certain teams at home in football or Texas will stop scheduling them in football.

Texas and Houston don't have the same relationship, and I suspect SMU is in the same boat.

such as LSU

We played Rice in every decade during the 20th century, the 55 games is LSU's most common opponent aside from those who've been in the SEC.

Of the Missouri top 20:

1 5-star (uncommitted)

3 4-stars (Oklahoma, Michigan, Missouri)

13 3-stars (4-Missouri, 1-Nebraska, 1-NW, 1-Ole Miss, 1-Iowa State, 5-uncommitted)

3 2-stars (1-NIU, 1-KSU, 1-Tulsa)

Yeah! Franklin does appear pretty talented but I just hope he learns from his mistakes this year and our defense best hit a lot of tackling drills because they sure need to tackle better than they did this week.

Coach Pinkel also has a top 25 recruiting class for next year up til now. I just hope moving out of the Big 12 doesn't effect that since all but a few are from Texas.

I keep hearing that we can't recruit in Texas if we aren't playing in Texas. I don't understand this. I'm pretty sure the top talent in Texas wants to play were they have the best chance to go pro. Missouri has a good track record in this regard recently. I believe the SEC only makes this better.
