Mizzou doesn’t commit to Big 12, SEC still an option

COLUMBIA | The fractured Big 12 Conference attempted to join hands and unify Thursday night, but Missouri’s grip may not be as tight.

Not only did MU chancellor Brady Deaton and athletic director Mike Alden decline to confirm the university’s commitment in the long or short term to the Big 12, the Tigers’ interest in the Southeastern Conference is very much alive.

“We either stick in the Big 12 because everything came about the way it needs to, the right way, with all the differences being settled in Missouri’s favor,” a university administrator who asked not to be identified told The Star on Thursday night. “But what are the odds of that happening?

“The other option is to join another conference and I believe that is something that we’re very open to.”

If you go to tigerboard.com you will see that there is a big grassroots effort by Mizzou fans to ditch the Big 12 and join the SEC. I don't think that they SEC will take them, but I do feel empathy for anyone stuck in the Bovine 9.

Would Missouri have to have a waiver as well? Or more appropriately does Baylor have their balls in a jar on the mantel next to A&M's?

Havent been keeping up. Someone please explain to me how this will work. If Missouri joins, will we have 8 teams in the west or does one of the MS or AL schools re-allign to the east?

If either of the above has to happen, then f that. Mizzou can go saddown somewhere.

Apparently Auburn has agreed to go to the east. If that happened, the Iron Bowl would still be played every year.

God that's going to be batshit weird. But if the Barn's OK with it and we still have the iron bowl, I guess it'll be ok long term.

Establish divisions irrespective of geography like the Big 10. Let Bama keep its rivalries with both Tennessee and Auburn. Instead of the Leaders and Legends divisions though, have the Hat (Les) and the Visor (Spurrier) divisions.
