TU has a compulsion to be the manipulator. If true, we will find out if A&M is truly tired of all the mind games and living in the shadow.

EVERYTHING Texas has done in the past six months is to A) leave the Big 12 and B) blame someone else for it. This is no different. Same song, different verse.

Luckily for A&M, Texas has already given the blueprint on how to respond. Just quote Horn propaganda: We didn't start this, but we are going to finish it.

Should be intresting to see how this thing shakes out. As a Texas fan, if the Big 12 breaks up I would rather go to the SEC. I'd much rather road trip to BR, SC, Tenn etc rather than Oregon or Washington. Not to mention the better quality of teams. No PAC 10 BS...

If what Brown is saying is true I think anyone with a brain can see why Texas is backtracking. They never thought that A&M or (to a lesser extent) OU would break ranks from the Pac-16 deal and explore other options. They will probably end up staying in the Big 12-2 and thus force A&M to stay. That way the SEC doesn't get their hands on the recruiting grounds of Texas.

Thing is.. if the SEC keeps its offer to A&M, (assuming there is one), the Ags would be much better off leaving anyways. Texas just keeps digging itself deeper in a hole and making themselves look dumber and dumber with this.

This has me puzzled.
quote:

Beebe has secured information that enough money could be inked in its next TV negotiation (in 2011) that revenues per school would jump from between $7 million and $10 million in the Big 12 currently to $17 million beginning in 2012, which is what the SEC pays out.

Why does he think they will be able to get 17 million per University?

I mean it just doesn't seem logical, the big 12 would have no conference title game and would be short two markets.

Essentiality all TV markets would be Oklahoma, Kansas, St Louis, and Texas. A network would have to be out of their mind to offer that much for that little viewer ship.

I agree, and I hope any of you SEC peeps who want us to move are emailing your AD's to support the idea.

not really. the SEC is fine with or without expansion, and the Big 10 is probably the biggest winner in all this, as they came out with Nebraska.

If A&M gets their accountants to look at this they'll quickly realize Beebe can't deliver unless he pulls a rabbit out of a hat (say, convincing UCLA to get out of USC's shadow and move to the Big 12 -- yeah, right).

I know there's the old saying that dealing with the devil you know is better than dealing with the devil you don't know. But in this case the devil you know isn't the devil you once knew.

A&M still holds all the cards, and would have Bevo around the nuts if he had any. Hopefully they'll play the hand that reads "A M S E C".

i meant as far as TV deals go. if the current big 12 or proposed pac12340197 with its markets where nobody cares about college football can pull in 17-20 mil from whoever then the SEC/Big 10 didnt get as much as they could have.

wow... so TAM will ultimately decide the fate of the Big 12-2.

huge decision.

If SEC pulls TAM, that would send OU and UT west... and those are the two schools the SEC really wanted.

It might be in the SEC best interest to step back.

Here comes the Full Court Press by the Longhorns to try and save face. I really don't see A&M letting UT off the hook this time. However, there are a whole lot of powerful Texas Grads who view this as another way to dump their dirty laundry on A&M and have no doubt it will work again as it has for over 100 years. The only difference is there is real fear for many Longhorn Fans regarding what A&M joining the SEC can do for the Aggies and hurt UT in Texas H.S. recruiting.
