About bonfire building. It is officially on moratorium. No jokes about it, no on the side giggling, it just isn't right.

There hasn't been enough time passed to allow the rant to degrade itself in such a manner.

So let's review.....what do you call a good lookin woman on aTm campus......a visitor = ok

How many aggy's does it take to build a bonfire? Not ok

Katrina dead people/State underwater joke EQUIVALENT.

Out of bounds, punch in the face territory.

I won't do it on here. But I make that joke to all my aggie friends. They know it's comin and they laugh along with me.

But the Katrina stuff is still off limits.

Yeah that's a "no fly zone" subject. It's just immature.

It was...they still do an unsanctioned bonfire but it's not quite the same.

They still have it.

Just not on campus and not as big.

It would be more tragic if it weren't just the result of complete incompetance.

That's the sad part, they were simply unsupervised and didn't listen to their own engineers about the construction itself.

It was a failed design compounded with a lack of supervision - and exhausted workers.

IMO, if it were simply an accident, it would be off limits automatically.

I wasn't old enough to remember the whole thing when it happened...I know that they did huge bonfires and one year it collapsed and killed people, right? So now they just do a smaller scale version? Or do they do it at all?

And I'm totally serious with this question, not trying to be funny or sarcastic in any way.

Sort of like most engineering failures, there were multiple levels of failure leading to gross failure. Not surprising.

Correct. It collapsed during construction killing several of the student workers who volunteered (i believe) their time to construct it. An actual awesome tradition IMHO. Unfortunately, mistakes happen. People do get hurt.

that's called military tradition, wish LSU would have stuck more to their heritage and roots as well. but bc you and the other poster who said this ticked him off are posting on this it's something you probably still wouldn't understand and will still make fun of....
