Could they get into the league next year or would they have to stay in big 12 one extra year. I remember seeing something with A&M saying if they didn't leave the big 12 on a certain date they would have to stay an extra year and I'm pretty sure Mizzou announced they were leaving after that date.

I'm sure next year with WVU playing in Big 12 next year. They'll just take Mizzou's spot. I'm sure Mizzou can get the ball rolling now, doubt if there will be much legal action when they leave since Big 12 picked up WVU to replace them.

It all depends if West Va. gets into the big 12 next year. The Big East is trying to block them with the 27 month thing. I think West Va. will get into the big 12 next year tho.

Mr. Deaton from Mizzou in his last interview made it pretty clear that whatever their plans were they would be for next year.

Personally it's only been a month since OU,OSU,TT and Texas tried to leave and were denied entry into the Pac 12. Since they weren't concerned about what that would do to the schools left behind I see no reason why Missouri should.

I think it's mostly posturing by the Big 12 because they don't want Missouri announced as an official SEC member before the MU vs Texas A&M game tomorrow morning. It could be seen a embarrassing by some.

I really don't see the Big East being able to retain Syracuse or Pittsburgh if West Virginia is able to successfully leave by the end of this season. That would leave the Big East with 5 teams.

Donn't know is this post is serious or you've been away for a while. Although, I do admit all of the announcements and movements are hard to track...

read your link, he doesn't know when they go to the big east in 2012, 2014, or 2015

I would think that in the weeks ahead everyone will be looking at the transition period and trying to determine whether the 27-month notice period really serves everyone's best interest or whether there should be some modification to it

No, I'm tracking. Syracuse and Pitt were apparently held to the magical "27-month window". West Virginia has significantly less clout than those two schools so if they are allowed to leave at the end of this season, those two schools will expect the same treatment.

I read last night that Pitt either was negotiating or had negotiated to pay $21 million as exit fee to leave early.

If the Big East lets WVU out early than MU can get to the SEC next year easily. Right now the Big 12 is trying to force MU into playing next year and threatening lawsuits if they wont. Thus the reason why the hold up on announcing they're going to the SEC.

As far as I'm concerned, let them sue. When the Big East sued the ACC when BC, VT, and Miami jumped ship, the Big East received all of around $5 million.

I doubt losing Mizzou for 1 season while waiting for WVU is going to be a big financial hit for the Big 12.

Actually it would be a huge hit. The new Fox TV deal calls for 10 schools and it's said if Missouri leaves and they only have 9 that can play the contract could be voided by Fox. It is for $1.9 billion dollars over 13 years. So were talking about a $1.9 billion hit to the Big 12 if Missouri leaves and Fox isn't flexible and voids the contract.

Turns out the Big 12-2-2 should have done what Missouri told them to do and liked it?

When Missouri told them they wanted 12 universities and 10 to 13 year grant of rights to stay I think it was a bluff because Texas had already said no way. Mr. Deaton has said he's been studying this move for a while now and I believe he expected Texas to balk. They wanted out and had the Best conference talking to them about an invite to be the 14th team but he had to play his cards close to the vest due to the Big 12'st litigious nature.

When Texas A&M announced they wanted to leave the first thing that happened was OU,OSU,TT and Texas trying to run out of the conference to the Pac 12. It was said than that Mr. Slive had asked MU to ride it out until they saw where the Big 12 was going.

When those schools come back in acting like saviours and everyone started bowing down to them again MU called BS, said we're not kissing the ground OU and Texas walk on anymore and asked Mr. Slive if they could join. I believe everything since Oct. 4th has been Mizzou working with the SEC on the best way to get out of the Big 12 with least resistance and legal issues.

This is just my thoughts but I think they're probably pretty close.
