Does Mizzou's move open up the possibility of a Pac-16 again?

I really have no idea since I've tuned out the conference expansion thing after the Pac-12 said they were staying pat. But the main reason I believe that the Pac-12 said they didn't want Oklahoma and OSU was because Texas wouldn't come. Does this open it up for Texas now? I can't imagine why any big teams would want to stay in that conference after losing Nebraska, Missouri, Texas A&M, and Colorado.

i think the WVU move was to shore up the bevo conference because they knew mizzou was leaving.

including wvu, they are still at 10

When the Pac turned down the OU thing they lost the best chance at improving the conference.

Larry Scott actually told OU that they would accept OU and OSU as a pair. They worked out the details and then found out that they didn't have the votes because the Pac 12 presidents didn't think that OSU was academically worthy of their conference. That left OU president David Boren with serious egg on his face.

The Big Ten, ACC, and Pac 12 all turned down Texas because of the LHN. The Pac 12 is planning its own network and was trying to convince Texas into turning the LHN into an affiliate of that network. Deloss Dodds wouldn't budge, so they were told no.

they really didnt turn down ou, they turned down the longhorn network

pac12 had to work way too hard to get revenue sharing past usc to let texas walk up and not abide by the same rules

i should amend to say that just ou/osu was never really an option.
if pac12 was going to expand, it was going to be to 16 with OU and UT

longhorn network killed the deal

Texas would stay in the Big-12 if it was down to them and Conference-USA/West.

As long as they're making money and going to bowls (well, except for last year), I don't think they'll change anything.

Makes sense. I'm surprised they were able to patch that conference together. It will be interesting to see how long they hold together for.

If I am Larry Scott I am on the phone with KU/KSU/OU/OSU every single day. Maybe even Tech instead of KSU if that could fly. In my head you would be making a 16 team conference with the old Pac 8, and then those 4 with CU/Utah/ASU/zona. That to me is an extremely strong and competitive conference in all sports.

With the bowl system as is... This seems like the only reasonable way for the Pac 12 to expand. OU vs USC Pac 16 championship game every year? Massive TV revenue. I know this won't happen OU is tied to the hip with Texas(my uncle is a powerful OU alumni that won national titles, blocked for a Heisman winner, and played in the league) ... And honestly the reason for that is that because of the Big 12, OU's enrollment over the last 15 years has jumped from 5% Texas kids to 40%. And it is out of state tuition. OU used to have problems getting Texas kids to enroll. I'm a Texas resident and my mom went to OU. If I was born way earlier, I could have received in state tuition for being a legacy. OU has may make millions from a Pac 16 deal, but they billions off enrollment. Billions. The entire state of OU has 3 million people. Texas has 25. DFW has 7.

And for this reason alone, OU will NEVER leave Texas.
