Sources tell OB Arkansas has definitely put out feelers about possibly joining the Big 12, but the B12 votes don't appear to be there yet.

Apparently, they plan on sharing that bag of dicks at the end of the rainbow that ND will bring with them to the Big 12.

When will it stop?

ETA: Yesterday the Big 12 was supposedly propositioning Arkansas and ND... Arkansas AD puts out a statement debunking interest and reaffirming commitment to the SEC.

Today, we are begging to go to the Big 12?! BS.

Arkansas AD: Razorbacks’ Best ‘Fit’ Is SEC
Posted on 11 May 2010
By Robbie Neiswanger
Arkansas News Bureau • rneiswanger@arkansasnews.com

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long has a message for outsiders who believe the Razorbacks should consider leaving the Southeastern Conference for the Big 12 because it would be better, geographically, for the program.

“It’s our decision where we fit,” Long said.

There’s no doubt in his mind it’s the SEC.

Long weighed in on expansion talk — which has included rumblings about the Razorbacks’ plans if a spot opened up in the Big 12 — during an interview Monday. Previously, Long has stated Arkansas had millions of reasons, financially, to remain in the SEC. He maintained his stance.

Long said it wouldn’t make sense for the Razorbacks to leave the riches of a league oozing with exposure and loaded with financial stability.

“I think that’s a very uninformed view that we would naturally fit better in the Big 12 region,” Long said. “Certainly the SEC is the strongest conference top to bottom. Not only financially, but competitively. And our conference is a conference of strength. Not one that would be subject to losing members and such.”

Arkansas which is operating under a $57 million budget, receives roughly $17 million a year under the league’s revenue sharing plan. The SEC is also finishing its first full year under the $3 billion television contracts with ESPN and CBS.

But with expansion talk swirling this spring, the Razorbacks have been a popular target. Especially with Missouri’s reported interest in leaving the Big 12 and relocating to the Big Ten.

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier vocalized that thought when asked about expansion during last week’s SEC football teleconference.

“I’ve heard maybe Arkansas back to the Big 12 or something like that,” he said. “It could happen.”

Arkansas jumped from the Southwest Conference to the SEC along with South Carolina in the early 1990s under former athletic director Frank Broyles. It ended the school’s yearly rivalries with former SWC schools like Texas and Texas A&M, but the benefits have been immeasurable.

Long said it would be a mistake to move again.

“There are overwhelming reasons to remain in the strongest conference in the United States,” Long said. “I think there’s not really a question other than some people’s view that we might ‘fit’ better with the institutions in the Big 12.

“But if you look at what we bring to the SEC, what the SEC has brought to us, I think there’s overwhelming reasons to being in the SEC.”

Texas loves to stir the pot to keep the attention away from how they bungled the move to the PAC 10.

When is Chip Brown going to start thinking for himself and stop believing every news feed Texas power officials "leak" to him?

This!

I live in Arkansas and their fans would burn the house down of the school president and AD if they went to that limp dick Big Whatever Conference.

I love the part about Arkansas not having the Big 12 votes. Yeah, that's why its not gonna happen, because the BIG 12 is rejecting Arkansas.

My only guess would be that they have to put out an appearance that someone would actullay want to get into that conference. Our AD comes out and says we are not going. Bo Mattingly thinks we should join the Big 12 so maybe Texas media is reporting what they are hearing from there.

This would make no sense other than maybe a pipe dream for Jerry Jones who won some sort of National Championship at Arkansas in 1964.
